VoIP Customers BoomMonday, April 10, 2006 The past year has seen an incredible boom in VoIP customers. The company Sprint Nextel Corp recently celebrated surpassing 1 million VoIP customers. This company alone has seen a four fold increase in the number of customers in the past year alone. The deals that Sprint Nextel has with other cable companies to provide VoIP customers with the new technology have boasted $100 million in revenue in 2005. They expect this number should increase to $1 billion by 2009. Sprint Nextel already has VoIP deals with the industry’s two largest players Time Warner Cable and Comcast Corp. They also have just sealed deals with smaller cable companies such as NPG Cable Inc. Sprint Nextel are not the only company to experience the surge in VoIP customers. Skype is one of the largest VoIP providers around at the moment and have seen their company and customer base soar in the past year. A recent survey found that they cater for 48% of calls made by VoIP customers in the UK. It is no surprise they were bought for $5 billion (US) by eBay. Powered by dBLOGGER |
