EQO Wireless Skype Pricing ExplainedThe EQO wireless Skype service for your cell phone does appear to very useful but the pricing can be a little complicated. However HotVoIPNews.com asked EQO some questions directly to make it clear what possible charges you can incur. The EQO wireless Skype service itself is absolutely free, but you will incur charges from Skype and your cell phone network provider. The EQO wireless Skype service uses the wireless data transfer service offered by your cell phone network to communicate with your PC that is running Skype. This is the same service that you would use to connect to the internet through your cell phone or check your email. Carriers may charge $10 for 1MB of transfer but the great news is that you could make over one hundred calls with just 1MB of data transfer. The EQO wireless Skype service only uses data transfer to communicate with your PC and not to actually make the call. If you sign up to an unlimited wireless data transfer cell phone plan then this would be perfect for an EQO wireless Skype cell phone. These monthly plans can be purchased for as less than $40 a month. With the cost of wireless data transfer covered you now have to consider the price of individual calls. When using the EQO wireless Skype service no matter whether you are receiving a call to Skype to making an outgoing call SkypeOut will have to call your cell phone to make the initial connection. You will be charged the appropriate Skypeout rate for this call. In the US it is the same as a landline cost as most cell phone networks charge you for the incoming call instead. However if you are based in other countries such as the UK then the Skypeout rate is approx. $0.25 (£0.15) to call a UK cell phone. The rest of the EQO wireless Skype pricing is as follows (all charges from Skypeout – EQO itself is free). - For an incoming call to your EQO wireless Skype phone from a Skype buddy there will be no additional charges. - For an outgoing call to your Skype buddies there will be no additional charges. - For an outgoing call to a landline or cell phone you will be charged the appropriate Skypeout rates on top of the Skype out rates for the incoming call. In review the EQO wireless Skype service is not designed for the cheapest calls but is the best option if you wish to be able to communicate with your Skype buddies wherever you have your cell phone. You can even instant message them (using your cell phone data traffic). There is no need for a complex 3G cell phone or a WiFi hotspot, all you need is your EQO wireless Skype cell phone and you are all set Another great attribute of the EQO wireless Skype service is that it does not have any serious security issues. A competing service from iSkoot has some serious security issues which have not been addressed. The makes the EQO wireless Skype service the leader in their field. |
