Apple have always had a reputation for staying ahead in the technology market and if the new iPhone comes with VoIP functionality as well as the sleek design and functions of an iPod mp3 player then it would definitely be looking like the popular consumer choice.

A VoIP iPhone would be a significant worry to current cell carriers as a successful firm such as Apple breaking into the cell phone market and encouraging the move from the traditional cell phone market to VoIP is potentially very damaging to their business.
