The potential competitive power of VoIP over standard telephone communication is what has driven a number of countries and companies to starts VoIP blocks or disruption. It has recently come to our attention that Belize also blocks VoIP. The Belize VoIP blocks are again heavily debated in the Vonage discussion forum where users in Belize are being affected. The issue seems not be going on as long as the blockage in Qatar but has already stirred up a lot of concern. It has even been accused the Belize VoIP blocks are against the Belize Constitution. There was a recent hearing addressing the Blocks to VoIP in Belize. This has further stirred up the issue with the Belize Tourism Industry Association getting involved and voting against the blocks. The tourism industry holds a lot of power in Belize and could likely pressure a resolution to the issue of VoIP blocks in Belize. |
